On Saturday morning, June 10, the Paris Firefighters hosted live burn training at a property in Paris Township that was scheduled for demolition. The township was gifted the structure for burn down, which also had the reward of being useful for tactical practice. Chief Derek Reed led the event and invited neighboring Charlestown, Palmyra, Edinburg, and Craig Beach fire squads to participate. The squads ran a loop of emptying their truck water tanks on the burning structure and refilling out of Leisure Lake. Department thanks were given to the structure owners and to Leisure Lake for their cooperation in this very safe and useful repurposing of the fallen structure. Further thanks went out to Stonage Pizza in Lake Milton, Dairy Queen in Austintown, Jimmy John’s in Austintown and Duck Donuts in Fairlawn for donating food for lunch.
