On Monday, 3/6/23, the Paris Township Fire Department hosted members of the local Charlestown, Edinburg, Deerfield and Palmyra Fire Departments for the Portage County ‘Active Shooter Hostile Event Response’ (ASHER) Program at the Shearer Community Center.
The ASHER program covers information to help guide Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement personnel on how to respond to and manage an active shooter incident. Other topics include the triaging of victims, media relations and how to assist with supporting the community when dealing with this type of incident.
Many thanks to Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Ryan Shackelford and Deputy Director Brett Lee for leading this important training event.
Thanks also to Lance Kearns of Mission BBQ for providing dinner for attendees.
