On May 21, 2023 our own Paris Township Fire Department’s Lieutenant Tyler Rose received a certificate to commemorate his completion of the Weekend Fire Officer I & II course from The Ohio Fire & Emergency Services Foundation.
Tyler’s Weekend Fire Officer coursework met the 80-hour professional qualification standard as defined by the National Fire Protection Agency’s NFPA 1021 (2020), essential for a fire officer to be able to prioritize the demands on their time. A Fire Officer 1 is responsible for accomplishing department goals by working through subordinates to achieve desired results relative to emergency operations, non-emergency tasks, or administrative functions. When moving on to Fire Officer 2 this responsibility widens, requiring the Fire Officer 2 to identify issues and develop the plans that a Fire Officer 1 then implements.
Additional to his extensive classwork, Tyler was tasked with, and successfully passed, the 40 hours of class written homework assignments required; the overall education having benefited any pursuit to promote to a Company Officer position.
Paris Township Chief Derek Reed reports already seeing the benefits of Tyler’s dedicated training completion that will benefit his entire team.
Many congratulations on your fine accomplishment, Tyler. Way to go!
