Hey, Paris Township residents. We now have our very own Little Free Library!
Laine Streem looked for a project that could improve the community, in order to achieve her Girl Scout Silver Award, and she found an incredible solution location at the Shearer Community Center.
Laine is a Senior in Girl Scout Troop 90744, and she earned her highest award by installing a public-use Little Free Library in front of the Shearer Community Center. In preparation for this recent install Laine sought approval from Paris Township and, once granted, proceeded to build and paint the box with the help of her family. On site, Laine dug the 2 foot hole for the post and platform needed to install and mount the box on top.
Laine seeded the box with books donated from her own collection. plus she sourced additional books from her family and school friends. She intends to replenish the titles over time, as books get taken.
Special thanks to Dan Spicer for his support in donating the landscape fabric, and for the Paris Township crew for providing the limestone stepping stones to weather-resist the Community Center front entrance area where the Little Free Library is located.
And thank you, Laine, for bringing this very useful community improvement to fruition. The Little Free Library is ready for sharing now. Everyone is welcome to stop by to take a book or leave a book!
