RESOLUTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SETTING REGULAR AND SPECIAL MEETINGS, AND ESTABLISHING RULES FOR THE MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF PARIS TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES
It was moved by Ed Samec, seconded by Dorene Spicer that the following resolution be adopted in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 121.22 (F) for Notices of Meetings:
Regular Scheduled Meetings:
The Paris Township Board of Trustees shall meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Shearer Community Center located at 9355 Newton Falls Road commencing at 6:00 PM and concluding at the end of business. Notice of meetings will be published on the Paris Township Trustees website located at paris-township.com.
Special Meetings:
Notice of the time, place, and purpose of all special meetings shall be published on the township website, social media if available, posted on the outside door of the Shearer Community Center and if applicable any other news media outlets; and at least twenty-four hours advance notice shall be given to the news media that have requested notification; except in the event of an emergency requiring immediate official action. Business beyond the scope of the stated purpose for a special meeting shall not be discussed.
Special Emergency Meetings:
In the event of an emergency requiring immediate official action, the Trustee or Trustees or Trustees designee calling the meeting shall notify the news media that have requested notification immediately of the time, place, and purpose of the meeting.
Specific Business:
Any person, upon request and payment of a reasonable fee set by the Paris Township Board of Trustees, may obtain reasonable advance notification of all meetings at which any specific type of public business is to be discussed. Such requests shall be directed to the Paris Township Fiscal Officer. Requests for notification by email at no cost shall include the requestor’s name, address, telephone number, email address, and specific type of public business that is of interest.
News Media:
News media shall direct requests for notification, including the requestor’s name, address, telephone number, and email address, to the Paris Township Fiscal Officer. The Paris Township Board of Trustees understands that news media have no duty to publish notices received in response to such requests.
The Board of Trustees finds and determines that all formal actions of this Board concerning and relating to the adoption of this resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Board and that all deliberations of this Board that resulted in those formal actions were in a meeting open to the public in compliance with the laws including Section 121.22 (F) of the Ohio Revised Code.
